Above All Things

Colossians 1:15-17

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For byhim all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

God, Explain Yourself!

Daniel 4:34-35

“At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”

Who Is Smarter?

Job 11:7-9

“Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty? It is higher than heaven—what can you do? Deeper than Sheol—what can you know? Its measure is longer than the earth and broader than the sea.”

Above and Beyond

Romans 11:33-36

“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.”

Many people would say our culture is becoming more and more chaotic each day. I would say much of the chaos has always been, but now more people are able to see it through public platforms. All the bad, good, and everything between is all over everything with a front row seat for everyone to see. People continue to seek solutions to the chaos, however, very few ever find the riches and wisdom of the solution.

Of course, for followers of Jesus the solution is Jesus. Yes, I understand that’s an extremely simple solution to an overwhelming amount of chaos, but it’s true. Simple doesn’t make it any less righteous. The passage teaches us that God has great knowledge, riches, and wisdom. No one has ever been the counselor of God. No one understands the mind of God other than himself. God sent Jesus to teach us the ways of his father. To die on the cross for the reasons of the chaos, my sin and your sin. A gift from God is Jesus. As followers of Jesus, we must trust Jesus, his spirit, and his word.

My fellow followers of Jesus and friends remember verse 36, “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen”. God allows the chaos. God is in control of the chaos. God’s in control of your chaos. God’s in control of my chaos. Yes, at times, I struggle with believing God is for me in my chaos. However, I might not understand the chaos, but I understand God.
