“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

“And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”

“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hopethat the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
I think we could all agree that life is messy and hard at times. Suffering is not optional. We don’t get to choose whether we go through hard times or not. We can choose to walk in an unstoppable hope that God can and will use our suffering for greater glory. When we can’t see how suffering is going to end, we can choose to hope for what we can’t see and be eager for what God is going to do. If you are in Christ, you have the help that you need. Hope has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We need to put our focus on Jesus and remember that God is good even when life is messy.
Lord, I do not like or want this situation I’m in, but while it is here, will you bear the fruit of your likeness in my life. Amen.

We’ve been reading this week about being sealed with the spirit and living the spirit life.
Discuss with your small group what you’ve drawn from your reading this week and how God has spoken to you.
The HEAR method is also an excellent structure for your discussion as a group. If you aren’t currently in a group we’d love to help you connect with one. Contact sharon@mybelmont.org or go to mybelmont.org/smallgroups
