We’ve been reading about seeing Jesus in a new light this week. Our passages, each from eyewitnesses and participants of Jesus’ earthly ministry, revealed Christ in His heavenly glory. How does seeing Jesus in His true form shape our faith and theology? How did it affect those who saw Him first hand in His true eternal form?
Discuss with your small group what you’ve drawn from your reading this week and how God has spoken to you. Pull from the daily questions and take advantage of the HEAR method to frame your discussion.
If you aren’t currently in a group we’d love to help you connect with one. We’re starting a new group for parents starting tomorrow at 10:10am in the upstairs Youth Area. We’d love for you to join us! Or you can contact jon@mybelmont.org or go to mybelmont.org/smallgroups to see what other options are available.

“For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.”
While using the HEAR method (see below) consider the following questions:
Are you more likely to believe the account of an event from someone who heard it second hand or from an eyewitness?
How much confidence does this account give you knowing that it was not only from an eyewitness but one who had been with Jesus His whole ministry, and held to this account even at the cost of his life?

“And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty, I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.”
While using the HEAR method (see below) consider the following question:
What is the meaning of today’s title “Finished, First (and Last), and Free” in relation to today’s passage? And what is it’s significance to our faith?

“Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”
While using the HEAR method (see below) consider the following questions:
John had walked with Christ through His whole public ministry. Seeing Him in this light though literally floored John. What do you think was going through John’s mind at that moment?
When you think of Jesus, do you typically think of the earthly Jewish man or the image that John presents in this passage? How does your response shape your relationship with Him?

“And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.”
While using the HEAR method (see below) consider the following question:
Why do you think John the Baptist and Jesus were rejected when they came to restore all things?
